Kapilavastu

The Battle of Kapilavastu was fought in 485 BC in Ganges Valley during the Mahajanapada era, a land engagement against Shakya. It ended in victory for the Indian side.

Historical Note

Vidudabha of Kosala, avenging the insult of his Shakya slave-blood, led his army into the Buddha's own homeland. He killed every Shakya he could find — men, women, children — within sight of the Buddha's deserted childhood home.
