Amenemhat I was an Egyptian pharaoh active in the 20th c. BC during the Middle Kingdom period from the state of 12th Dynasty. Was assassinated.
Historical Note
Vizier who took the throne, founded the 12th Dynasty, and moved the capital to Itj-tawy near the Faiyum. Assassinated in his bedchamber by his own guards. His son Senusret heard of it on campaign and rode through the night to save the dynasty.
