Kamose was an Egyptian pharaoh active in the 16th c. BC during the Second Intermediate period from the state of 17th Dynasty. Was killed in battle.

Historical Note

Last Theban prince of the 17th Dynasty. Sailed downriver and burned the orchards of the Hyksos capital Avaris. Died — perhaps in battle — before he could take it; his younger brother Ahmose finished the war and founded the New Kingdom.
