Pepi I was an Egyptian pharaoh active in the 23rd c. BC during the Old Kingdom period from the state of 6th Dynasty. Died of natural causes.
Historical Note
Conqueror who pushed Egypt's frontiers far into Nubia and the Sinai with five expeditions led by his general Weni. Survived a harem conspiracy that tried to poison him — and recorded the trial in a still-readable papyrus.
