Granicus

The Battle of Granicus was fought in 334 BC in Anatolia during the Hellenistic era, a land engagement against Persia. It ended in victory for the Greek side.

Historical Note

Alexander's first battle in Asia. He nearly died — a Persian axe was inches from his skull when Cleitus the Black cut down the attacker at the last moment.
