Issus

The Battle of Issus was fought in 333 BC in Anatolia during the Hellenistic era, a land engagement against Persia. It ended in victory for the Greek side.

Historical Note

Darius III fled, leaving his mother, wife, and daughters in Alexander's camp. Alexander treated them as royalty. Darius never regained the military initiative.
