Psamtik I was an Egyptian pharaoh active in the 7th c. BC during the Late Period period from the state of 26th Dynasty. Died of natural causes.
Historical Note
Threw off the Assyrians with Greek and Carian mercenaries, reunified Egypt, and founded the 26th Dynasty. Began the Saite Renaissance — a self-conscious revival of Old Kingdom art and ritual, the first 'classicism' in history.
