Nefertari

Beloved of Mut

Nefertari was an Egyptian queen active in the 13th c. BC during the New Kingdom period from the state of 19th Dynasty. Died of natural causes.

Historical Note

Beloved chief queen of Ramesses II. He carved a temple for her at Abu Simbel beside his own — the only time a New Kingdom queen was depicted at equal scale to her husband. Her tomb at Thebes is the most exquisite ever found for a royal woman.
