Indian Battles

Hydaspes

The Battle of Hydaspes was fought in 326 BC in Indus Valley during the Macedonian Invasion era, a land engagement against Macedonians. It ended in defeat for the Indian side.

Historical Note

Porus stood his elephants on the far bank of the Jhelum. Alexander crossed in a storm at night and broke the elephant line with javelins through their trunks. Bucephalus, his horse since boyhood, died of wounds on this field.
