Pataliputra Coup
The Battle of Pataliputra Coup was fought in 185 BC in Ganges Valley during the Post-Maurya era, a ambush engagement against Maurya. It ended in victory for the Indian side.
Historical Note
At a military review the Mauryan commander-in-chief Pushyamitra Shunga drew his sword and beheaded the emperor Brihadratha in front of the troops. The dynasty of Chandragupta and Ashoka ended on a parade ground.
