Egyptian Pharaohs
Khufu
Builder of the Great Pyramid
Khufu was an Egyptian pharaoh active in the 26th c. BC during the Old Kingdom period from the state of 4th Dynasty. Died of natural causes.
Historical Note
Builder of the Great Pyramid of Giza — 146 metres of limestone, 2.3 million blocks, the largest stone structure ever raised by human hands. Herodotus called him a tyrant; the workers' graffiti reads more like proud union plaques.
