Egyptian Pharaohs
Senusret III
Conqueror of Nubia
Senusret III was an Egyptian pharaoh active in the 19th c. BC during the Middle Kingdom period from the state of 12th Dynasty. Died of natural causes.
Historical Note
Drove the border deep into Nubia and built the fortresses of Semna to hold it. So feared that Nubians later worshipped him as a god. The Greeks remembered him — confusedly — as the world-conqueror 'Sesostris'.
