Mentuhotep II was an Egyptian pharaoh active in the 21st c. BC during the Middle Kingdom period from the state of 11th Dynasty. Died of natural causes.
Historical Note
Theban prince who reconquered the north after a century of fragmentation, ending the First Intermediate Period and founding the Middle Kingdom. Egypt's chroniclers ranked him alongside Narmer as a second founder.
