Egyptian Battles
Niy
The Battle of Niy was fought in 1450 BC in Levant during the New Kingdom era, a land engagement against Mitanni. It ended in victory for the Egyptian side.
Historical Note
On his eighth campaign Thutmose III recrossed the Euphrates and slaughtered a Mitanni army at Niy. Then — Egyptian records insist with pride — he hunted 120 elephants in the marshes. The chief of his bodyguard cut off the tusks of the herd's lead bull.
