Egyptian Battles

Naharin

The Battle of Naharin was fought in 1500 BC in Levant during the New Kingdom era, a land engagement against Mitanni. It ended in victory for the Egyptian side.

Historical Note

Thutmose I marched to the Euphrates, defeated the Mitanni in pitched battle, and set up a stela on the far bank declaring the river — which 'flowed backward' to Egyptian eyes — the limit of his realm. No pharaoh would campaign that far again for fifty years.
