Egyptian Battles

Dapur

The Battle of Dapur was fought in 1269 BC in Levant during the New Kingdom era, a siege engagement against Hittites. It ended in victory for the Egyptian side.

Historical Note

Ramesses II besieged the fortified Syrian city of Dapur after Kadesh. His sons climbed the scaling ladders beside the soldiers — the reliefs at the Ramesseum show princes by name. The city fell; Egyptian prestige was partly salvaged.
