Egyptian Battles

Semna

The Battle of Semna was fought in 1850 BC in Nubia during the Middle Kingdom era, a land engagement against Nubians. It ended in victory for the Egyptian side.

Historical Note

Senusret III pushed Egypt's southern border deep into Nubia and built a chain of brick fortresses to hold it. The Semna stele warns: 'Any son of mine who shall let the boundary fall back is not my son.'
