Egyptian Battles

Buhen

The Battle of Buhen was fought in 1860 BC in Nubia during the Middle Kingdom era, a siege engagement against Nubians. It ended in victory for the Egyptian side.

Historical Note

Senusret III stormed and rebuilt the Buhen fortress at the Second Cataract — drawbridges, ditches, mudbrick ramparts. The Semna stela by his hand declares Nubia annexed and threatens any son who lets the border slip.
