Proserpina

Regina Veris — Queen of Spring

Proserpina is a Roman goddess of spring, associated with the realm of underworld. Proserpina belongs to the chthonic generation of the pantheon. Roughly equivalent to Persephone in cross-pantheon mapping. Symbolised by the pomegranate.

Historical Note

Proserpina spent six months below with Pluto and six above with Ceres, creating summer and winter. Her abduction was depicted on countless Roman sarcophagi as a metaphor for death and rebirth.
