Roman Mythology
Jupiter
Rex Deorum — King of the Gods
Jupiter is a Roman god of sky, associated with the realm of olympus. Jupiter belongs to the olympian generation of the pantheon. Roughly equivalent to Zeus in cross-pantheon mapping. Symbolised by the thunderbolt.
Historical Note
Jupiter's temple on the Capitoline Hill was the most sacred in Rome. Each Roman military triumph ended there, with the victorious general dressed as Jupiter himself.
