Venus

Dea Amoris — Goddess of Love

Venus is a Roman goddess of love, associated with the realm of olympus. Venus belongs to the olympian generation of the pantheon. Roughly equivalent to Aphrodite in cross-pantheon mapping. Symbolised by the dove.

Historical Note

Julius Caesar claimed descent from Venus through Aeneas, making her the divine ancestor of the Julian dynasty. Caesar dedicated a temple to Venus Genetrix in the Forum.
