Greek Battles
Sellasia
The Battle of Sellasia was fought in 222 BC in Peloponnese during the Hellenistic era, a land engagement against Macedon. It ended in defeat for the Greek side.
Historical Note
Antigonus III Doson with 30,000 men broke the Spartan reform-king Cleomenes III, who had revived the old Lycurgan system. Cleomenes fled to Egypt and slit his throat; Sparta's last bid for hegemony ended.
