Greek Battles

Salamis

The Battle of Salamis was fought in 480 BC in Attica during the Classical era, a naval engagement against Persia. It ended in victory for the Greek side.

Historical Note

Themistocles lured the Persian fleet into the narrow strait where numbers were meaningless. Xerxes watched from a golden throne on shore as his navy was destroyed.
