Cynoscephalae

The Battle of Cynoscephalae was fought in 197 BC in Macedonia during the Hellenistic era, a land engagement against Rome. It ended in defeat for the Greek side.

Historical Note

Flamininus's legions shattered the Macedonian phalanx on broken ground — the first major Roman victory over Macedon. Greek 'freedom' under Roman protection followed.
