Egyptian Battles
Panion
The Battle of Panion was fought in 200 BC in Levant during the Ptolemaic era, a land engagement against Seleucids. It ended in defeat for the Egyptian side.
Historical Note
Antiochus III defeated Ptolemy V's general Scopas at the headwaters of the Jordan and took Coele-Syria for the Seleucids forever. Egypt's last great Asiatic possession was gone; Judea passed to a Seleucid king who would soon trigger the Maccabean Revolt.
