Egyptian Battles
Kadesh
The Battle of Kadesh was fought in 1274 BC in Levant during the New Kingdom era, a land engagement against Hittites. It ended in a stalemate.
Historical Note
Ramesses II walked into a Hittite ambush on the Orontes — the bulk of his army was strung along the road, his own division was overrun. He rallied with the Re division at his side and fought Muwatalli to a standstill. Both sides claimed victory; both then drafted history's first peace treaty.
