Egyptian Battles
Memphis (Piye)
The Battle of Memphis (Piye) was fought in 727 BC in Delta during the Third Intermediate era, a siege engagement against Tefnakht. It ended in victory for the Egyptian side.
Historical Note
Piye took Memphis itself after Heracleopolis. He found the gates barred and the harbour boats moored to the city walls — climbed them like a ladder, and was inside before the defenders could regroup. The Kushites now wore the Double Crown.
