Brasidas was a Greek strategos active in the 5th c. BC during the Classical period based in Sparta. Was killed in battle.

Historical Note

The finest Spartan general of the Peloponnesian War. Captured Amphipolis through sheer audacity, killed Cleon in single combat, and died of his wounds the same day — buried inside the city as a hero.
