Pittacus was a Greek lawgiver active in the 6th c. BC during the Archaic period based in Mytilene. Died of natural causes.

Historical Note

Elected aisymnetes (lawgiver-dictator) of Mytilene to end civil war. One of the Seven Sages — credited with the saying 'know thy opportunity.' Stepped down voluntarily after a decade.
