Tegyra

The Battle of Tegyra was fought in 375 BC in Central Greece during the Classical era, a land engagement against Sparta. It ended in victory for the Greek side.

Historical Note

Pelopidas with 300 Thebans of the Sacred Band met a Spartan force twice their number marching out of Orchomenus, and broke it. The first ever defeat of a Spartan army in open battle by a smaller force.
