Wang Mang

Wang Mang was a Chinese emperor active in the 1st c. AD during the Xin period from the state of Xin. Was killed in battle.

Historical Note

Seized the Han throne in 9 AD and proclaimed his own Xin ('New') dynasty. His radical reforms collapsed during massive flooding and famine. Killed when rebels stormed his palace.
