King Wen of Zhou was a Chinese king active in the 11th c. BC during the Western Zhou period from the state of Zhou. Died of natural causes.
Historical Note
Imprisoned by the last Shang tyrant Zhou Xin, he passed his captivity composing the trigrams of the Yi Jing. Died before his sons overthrew Shang — but had laid the moral case for it.
