Hammurabi was a Babylonian king active in the 18th c. BC during the Old Babylonian period. Died of natural causes.

Historical Note

Codified the laws of Babylon onto a basalt stele — 'an eye for an eye.' Made Babylon the dominant city of Mesopotamia.
