Hannibal Barca was a Carthaginian general active in the 3rd c. BC during the Punic Wars period. Took his own life.
Historical Note
Crossed the Alps with elephants and a Carthaginian army; annihilated Rome at Cannae (216 BC). Beaten at Zama by Scipio. Died in exile by poison rather than be handed to Rome.
