Vyasa was an Indian sage active in the 12th c. BC during the Vedic Age period from the state of Kuru. Died: renounced.
Historical Note
The sage who compiled the four Vedas, the eighteen Puranas, and the Mahabharata — dictating the last to Ganesha, who used his own tusk as a pen. Father of Dhritarashtra and Pandu. Said to be still alive on a remote mountain.
