Sanghamitra was an Indian sage active in the 3rd c. BC during the Maurya period from the state of Maurya. Died of natural causes.
Historical Note
Ashoka's daughter and Mahendra's sister. Sailed to Sri Lanka with a cutting of the Bodhi Tree itself — the tree at Anuradhapura today, oldest documented tree in the world, grew from her sapling.
