Indian Rulers
Panini
the Grammarian
Panini was an Indian scholar active in the 4th c. BC during the Mahajanapada period from the state of Gandhara. Died of natural causes.
Historical Note
Codified Sanskrit grammar in 3,959 sutras — the Ashtadhyayi — with a precision so complete that modern linguists still study it. Without him there is no Vedic preservation and no Indian science.
