Hippias was a Greek tyrant active in the 6th c. BC during the Archaic period based in Athens. Died: exile.
Historical Note
Son of Pisistratus, last tyrant of Athens. Grew cruel after his brother Hipparchus was murdered by the Tyrannicides. Expelled in 510 BC, he died guiding the Persians at Marathon.
