Thoth

the Ibis-Headed — Scribe of the Gods

Thoth is an Egyptian god of wisdom, associated with the realm of heaven. Thoth belongs to the first generation of the pantheon. Roughly equivalent to Hermes in cross-pantheon mapping. Symbolised by the ibis.

Historical Note

Ibis-headed god of writing, mathematics, astronomy, and the moon. Mediates between Horus and Set; weighs the heart of every dead soul against Maat's feather at the judgement. The Greeks identified him with Hermes; later magicians called him Trismegistos.
