Baideng

The Battle of Baideng was fought in 200 BC in Steppe during the Western Han era, a siege engagement against Xiongnu. It ended in defeat for the Chinese side.

Historical Note

Liu Bang himself was surrounded for seven days by Modu Chanyu's Xiongnu. He escaped only by bribing Modu's wife. The Han accepted tributary peace with the steppe for sixty years.
