Appius Claudius Caecus was a statesman of the Roman Republic active in the 4th c. BC originally from Italia. Held power for 12 years and died of natural causes.
Historical Note
Censor of 312 BC. Built the Via Appia and Rome's first aqueduct. Blind in old age, he delivered from memory the speech that rejected peace with Pyrrhus.
