Demetrius Poliorcetes was a Greek king active in the 3rd c. BC during the Hellenistic period based in Macedon. Died: imprisonment.
Historical Note
'The Besieger.' Built the Helepolis — a 30-meter siege tower — to attack Rhodes, and failed. Won at Salamis, lost at Ipsus. Died a drunken prisoner of Seleucus.
