Agesilaus II was a Greek king active in the 4th c. BC during the Classical period based in Sparta. Died of natural causes.

Historical Note

Long-reigning Spartan king who campaigned deep into Persian territory but was recalled when Thebes turned hostile. Still on campaign in Egypt when he died at 84.
