Horus

the Falcon — Living Pharaoh

Horus is an Egyptian god of sovereignty, associated with the realm of heaven. Horus belongs to the hero generation of the pantheon. Roughly equivalent to Apollo in cross-pantheon mapping. Symbolised by the falcon.

Historical Note

Son of Osiris and Isis. Avenged his father by warring against Set for eighty years — losing an eye and regaining it. Every pharaoh on the throne of Egypt was a living Horus; every dead pharaoh became Osiris in the underworld.
