Chandragupta I was an Indian emperor active in the 4th c. AD during the Gupta period from the state of Gupta. Died of natural causes.
Historical Note
Married the Licchavi princess Kumaradevi and founded the Gupta empire at Pataliputra (320 AD). Took the title Maharajadhiraja — 'great king of kings'. The line he started would preside over India's classical golden age.
