Indian Rulers
Bindusara
Slayer of Foes
Bindusara was an Indian emperor active in the 3rd c. BC during the Maurya period from the state of Maurya. Died of natural causes.
Historical Note
Inherited the empire from Chandragupta and extended it south of the Vindhyas. Antiochus I sent him an embassy; he replied asking for sweet wine, dried figs, and a Greek philosopher. The Greeks shipped the first two and politely declined the third.
