Durga

the Invincible — Slayer of the Buffalo

Durga is an Indian goddess of war, associated with the realm of heaven. Durga belongs to the first generation of the pantheon. Roughly equivalent to Athena in cross-pantheon mapping. Symbolised by the trishula.

Historical Note

Forged from the combined wrath of all the gods to kill the buffalo-demon Mahishasura when no male god could. Rides a lion, wields ten weapons in ten arms, and slew Mahishasura on the tenth day — celebrated as Vijayadashami.
